Flaky Pastry Dough Recipe

Make A Delcious Homemade Pie Crust
From This Versatile Flaky Pastry Dough Recipe!
Are you looking for the perfect crust to serve as the backdrop for your pies, tarts, and other homemade delights? Then you are going to love this recipe, which makes not one, not two, but three incredibly flaky and delicious crusts!

This crust tastes scrumptious in my Fabulous Quiche Recipe!

Ingredients

4 Cups Flour
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 ¾ Cups Unsalted Butter
¼ Cup Sugar
¾ Cups Ice Water

Instructions

1. Combine the flour, salt and sugar in a mixing bowl, with the paddle attachment.

2. Add the butter, creating a coarse mixture resembling small peas.

3. Add the water until it is just incorporated.

4. Remove the dough.

5. Divide the dough evenly into three portions.

6. Flatten each portion into three round disks.

7. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour and wrap the remaining two disks in plastic.

Once the dough has chilled, you can use it in your favorite recipes!

Storage Tip

You can store these dough disks for up to three days in the refrigerator or up to 1 month in the freezer.

  3. Jacque, do give it a try - it's so worth it!

April, I use mine for Quiche (I'll be posting my recipe shortly) but Chicken Pot Pie sounds like a FABULOUS choice for it too! If you have a good recipe - please share! :-)

  4. Your recipe sounds very good. I will give this one a try. One problem I have is that when I flute the edges of my crust, it looks great, but inevitable, part of it always falls into the pie- even if I chill it first. Any idea about how to prevent that? Looking forward to quiche!

  23. I love a flaky crust and I used to make them regularly but it has been years. You make me want to try again.

  24. I'm an all butter pie crust girl too. Despite the fact that lard makes a slightly flakier crust, flavor wins in my book.

PS - I make my crust in the food processor. Takes only a few seconds.
