What's On Your Workdesk this Wednesday? I'm turning to the past for inspiration and sharing a gift I received from Sheila at Welcome To My Kitchen!

Sheila found this authentic vintage rolling pin at Denise's Kountry Patch. What I love about Denise's alteration is that it remains true to its character. Instead of treating this item like something old that should be discarded, or something worn down that should be made new, Denise highlighted the beauty of the peeling paint and chipped wood and enhanced its vintage charm!

    I have no clue what has inspired me recenly. I did find an awesome blog with some cool tutorials yesterday that I want to try. The link is in my email somewhere. The rolling pin looks great!

    I'm inspired every day by people who make something from nothing 'so to speak' for me i think using old fabric and lace to create custom wall art inspires me the most :D oh and although i'm not a steampunk fan i love the use of recycled things in there work!

    How clever to do that with the rolling pin.
    Not so much about older items treated kindly as newer stash treated so cleverly can be found at It's All Fiddle Fart - which, until NOW, I read as Fiddle Art! Followed by using Google reader so hadn't taken much notice whereas I DO look through all the WOYWW blogs.

    oh dear,

    i still use my grandma's rolling pin that my mom gave to me,

    it does go through the dishwasher so i hope it is okay to continue to use it for it original purpose, if not I think I should get altering....

    Love the rolling pin. I would have to say that having looked on you tube at tim holtz altered frames and boxes - anything goes for me - I was scouring the boot sales for rusty old locks and keys at the weekend!!

    I'm glad that you all love this beautiful altered vintage rolling pin as much as I do!

    Several of you have asked whether its new home will be in my kitchen or my craft room. While my ultimate dream is to have a kitchen that would support the placement of such a beautiful piece, my current kitchen does not. Therefore, it will be inspiring me on a shelf in The Paper Palace until I move to more suitable digs!
