Songs Of Worship #2: Indescribable

This week, I’ve been thinking about how God uses adversity to draw us to Him. It’s easy to praise God when times are good. But God tests our faith during tough times. That’s when we either draw close to God or drift apart. God uses adversity to deepen our relationship with Him and to reveal Himself to us in new and life-altering ways.

In the song Indescribable, Chris Tomlin sings of our magnificant God. As I listen to this song, I am reminded of Job – a righteous man from the Bible who encountered God during a time of great loss in his life. Although Job was a man of faith, in his darkest moments, he began to question everything – himself, his past, even God. God responded by reminding Job of who He is and what He can do. As Job's focus shifted from his circumstances to God – God's person, God's power, God's character – Job changed and his life was forever transformed.

May you be blessed this week as you reflect on God’s amazing character and His great love for you!

Indescribable by Laura Story and Jesse Reeves
Recorded by Chris Tomlin

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

  17. Wonderful song! It's funny, because I didn't particulary care for this song, but I was won over through Avalon's gorgeous version. (I actually posted it on my blog here:
