Beef With Caramelized Onions & Red Peppers

If you are looking for a new way to serve beef to your family, you'll want to give today's recipe a try! Now I have a picky palate when it comes to beef, but this flavorful dish is one of my favorites! This recipe represents my beef-loving husband's adaption of one that inspired him in Williams Sonoma Kitchen Library Stir Fry.

One of the ingredients in this recipe is Soy Sauce. For those of you trying to lead a healthier lifestyle, we use and recommend San J's Organic Gluten Free Reduced Sodium Tamari Soy Sauce.

Ingredients

2 Pounds Beef, Cubed
2 Large or 3 Medium Brown Onions, Coarsely Chopped
3 Large Red Peppers, Cut Into ¼ Inch Wide Strips
6 Tablespoons Olive Oil
¼ Cup Worcestershire Sauce
¼ Cup Sherry
2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
2-3 Teaspoons Ground Black Pepper To Taste
½ Cup Soy Sauce

Instructions:

1. Saute the onions in 3 tablespoons of oil until they turn translucent and brown. Remove the onions from the wok.

2. Saute and brown the beef in the remaining 3 tablespons of oil, then combine with garlic powder and black pepper.

3. Add the onions.

4. Add the soy sauce, sherry and Worcestershire sauce.

5. Stir together and bring to a boil. When the liquid is reduced by half, stir in the bell peppers and cook until tender and the sauce is fairly thick.

6. Serve over rice.
