Lately, I've also been thinking about what influences me creatively when I sit down to begin a project, and I find there are no simple answers. Each project is different; anything and everything can inspire me! Sometimes I start with an idea; then come the materials, the tools, the colors, and the techniques. Other times I'll see a picture I like or a challenge that intrigues me; often a color or an image or a phrase will catch my eye. Sometimes it is one thing - sometimes, I build upon an idea, as I did with this card!
To create this card, I started with the papers, which I found when sorting through my scraps. As soon as I saw the Kraft paper, I knew it would be perfect for the Kraft Challenge that Gingersnap Creations is currently sponsoring. Next, I decided upon the red, black, and kraft color scheme, then added the black and white patterend paper as a complement to the lace, which was inspired by Sweet N Sassy's Let's Get Lacey Challenge!
I knew I wanted to use a Vintage image to go with the Mother's Day theme, so I chose one of my favorite stamps from Stampin Up's Friendship Journey set. I added a handmade crocheted flower in one corner and Maya Road and Prima flowers in the other to anchor the image, and adorned the card with beautiful lacy black trim and black and crystal bling from Recollections. Finally, I decided to add some color to the image by distressing the edges with Colorbox Charcoal Chalk Ink and stippling the edges and the image with Stampin Up's Classic Ruby Red Ink, and Almost Amethyst and Sage Shadow Dye Inks. The stippling adds just a hint of pretty color! I mounted the image on a piece of velvet suede paper for its luxurious feel!
